How to use social media to grow your business and gain a bigger audience

A lot of people think of social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as channels to stay in contact with friends and family. But social media isn’t all about liking people’s pictures of cats or stalking ex’s. Social Media can provide networking opportunities and maybe even get you some new business.

Below are some simple tips on how to use social media to grow your fitness business

1. Start getting social

Whether you have a website or not, social media can help your business to establish an online presence:

Simple & speedy: easy-to-use social platforms like Facebook or twitter mean your presence can be up and running in minutes.

Cost-effective: a social media page set-up on Facebook will cost you nothing.

Ready to use client base: social media networks are a place to reach out and contact existing and potential clients.

If you already have a website, social media marketing can advertise and guide potential client’s right to your front door, but if a website isn’t in budget, your business can still benefit from registering a unique and descriptive domain name. Two primary ways to use a domain (or even multiple domain names) in support of gaining a social media presence are:

1. A branded Web address that points clients to your social online presence.

2. A branded email address to give you social presence while giving your business added credibility.

2. Using Good Content to Attract New Customers

The best way to grab the general public’s attention and increase user interaction is to have good quality content. Using your website or social platform to advertise what you got, good clean images, catching slogans and a well written blog will go a long, long way.

Get yourself a plan: Make sure you have all the good quality content you need to display on your social platform, remember Joe public likes pretty colours and beautiful scenic landscapes!

Define your audience: find out who they are and most importantly what they want. This can give you a better idea on what content you need to display.

Know you stuff: Your content is bound to be more appealing if you know what you are actually talking about.

3. Try Paid Advertising to Attract New Customers

Now I know what you’re thinking, is paid advertising worth investing in?
Paid advertising relies on things like keywords, so say you have a gym, your key words could be….. Gym or even fitness, these keywords are what know as targeting mechanisms. Basically your colourful add with a cool image and keyword text displays on the side of a user’s page, it’s there in front of you but it’s not really being obstructive.

Paid advertising can be a very effective on many of the social platforms and you might find that some of them have a budget friendly option to help small businesses or people just starting out.

Using images in your ad is a great way to draw more attention to your business; I’m not talking about using scantily clad women to advertise your wears but nice clean colourful images that advertise who you are and what you do. If people like your image they are going to click on it or share it, meaning potential business could be coming your way!

Last but not least don’t forget your old buddy YouTube. YouTube can be another very handy tool in the advertising world. Adverts can be placed on pages and you can set up a YouTube page for nothing. Upload videos of what you’re about, what you do, show them what you know it’s easy all you need is a mobile phone and a little know how.
